Player-coach Bill Russell, GM Red Auerbach and top scorer John Havlicek shared a laugh after the Celtics crushed the Los Angeles Lakers, 124-109, in Game 6 of the 1968 NBA Finals. The victory reclaimed Boston’s spot as the NBA World Championship titleholder. “Russell learned a lot as a coach last year and he was a better coach this year, which helped the team a lot,” said Havlicek. Russell remained productive as a player as well, averaging a double-double of 18.6 rebounds and 12.5 points per game in the 1967-68 season.
